The average price at Polpaico was USD 94.8/MWh, 14% higher than last week and 38% higher than the same week last year.
Marginal cost evolution in Polpaico during past years
In the generation mix, wind share fell by 2.5 pp and solar fell by 2.4 pp. Coal increased by 2.9 pp and gas by 2.3 pp, while oil decreased by 0.7 pp.
Peak system output occurred on Friday at 1 PM, reaching 12.0 GW. The highest BESS participation was recorded on Sunday at 8 PM, when injections accounted for 15.8% of system output.
Daily operation reports showed recurring gas availability constraints, particularly at Nueva Renca and Nehuenco, due to supplier limitations.
Prices were mostly coupled during the week, although localized congestion continued to cause price decoupling on the 220 kV Charrúa–Santa Clara line on Thursday, the 220 kV Lastarria–Ciruelos line on Thursday and Friday, and the 500 kV Nueva Pan de Azúcar–Polpaico line during solar hours on several weekdays.
Oil-fired plants set the marginal price on most days, except Sunday and Wednesday. The highest reference price was USD 316.1/MWh in Puerto Montt at 11:45 PM on Friday, set by the oil-fired Los Guindos plant, based on preliminary data.
